This site is my personal blog. This page covers the email signup form and the analytics on the site.
Email updates
What is collected. The signup form sends your email address and a Cloudflare Turnstile token, a spam check that runs when you press Subscribe. Your IP address is sent to Cloudflare to verify that check and is used to limit repeated signups. For that limit it is stored only as a one-way hash combined with the current hour, and the record expires after an hour.
Why. To send you one email per new post, with its title, summary and link. Before that, you get one email asking you to confirm. Project and writeup updates are not emailed.
Where it is stored. Your address is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database, along with when you signed up and confirmed, a random unsubscribe token, and a record of which posts were emailed to you. Emails are sent with Cloudflare Email Sending from [email protected]. Cloudflare processes this data for me. Signups that are never confirmed are deleted after seven days, and confirmation links expire after 24 hours.
Never sold or shared. Your email address is never sold or shared. It is used only to send these emails.
Unsubscribe. Every email has an unsubscribe link. Unsubscribing deletes your address and its delivery records.
Deletion. To have your address deleted, or to ask what is stored about you, email [email protected].
Analytics
This site uses Google Analytics and Loomlytics to count visits and see which pages are read. Google Analytics uses cookies. The signup form does not send your email address to either of them.
