# Meta forks OpenClaw as MetaClaw

*21 September 2026 · Muse, AI agents, OpenAI*

I am not surprised that Meta has forked OpenClaw. Their internal name for Muse is MetaClaw and they use it in the backend URL as well.

They should be given credit for the deployment and execution. OpenAI was sitting on it, pushing self-host and Codex subscription. Meta, on the other hand, deployed containers and placed their own models on top.

Brilliant move!

> Network monitoring on the Grok and Muse bots showed no issues.
>
> Grok relies on cursor API endpoints, several AWS-hosted backend addresses, and Statsig for telemetry.
>
> Muse primarily uses Meta endpoints; one destination reverse-resolves to edge-metaclaw-http-shv-01-sea5[.]facebook[.]com, which seems to be an internal label for Muse.
> The Openclaw–Metaclaw link is clear, and they also use a multimango model configuration that resolves to a Vercel address.
